Michael Kanyon’s passion for hair began early—sparked by a gift from his father: his first buzzer. By 15, he was cutting hair for friends in his neighborhood, blending his natural sense of geometry with a growing eye for style. That innate ability to sculpt hair to suit individual features quickly set him apart.
He went on to study at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy, Rusk, and Jingles, before apprenticing under the legendary John Sahag. There, he mastered Sahag’s exclusive dry-cutting method—an advanced technique known only to a select few worldwide—cementing his reputation as one of the industry’s most sought-after stylists.
At just 22, Michael became one of the youngest editorial hairstylists in fashion. On his first major shoot in New York, working under iconic photographer Victor Skrebneski, he was asked to change a model’s look nine times in one day. His poise and artistry earned a round of applause from the crew—and the respect of fashion legends like Gilles Bensimon, Patrick Demarchelier, Francesco Scavullo, and Russell James.
His talent has since taken him around the world, styling for major runway shows, global campaigns, and A-list celebrities including Heidi Klum, Jessica Simpson, Ashley Judd, and Alicia Keys. His work has appeared in Vogue, Marie Claire, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Italian Vogue, and he’s led campaigns for Ray-Ban, Wrangler, and Samsonite. Many recognize him as the Key Hair Stylist for America’s Next Top Model on The CW.
In 2021, Michael relocated to Atlanta and launched KANYON BEAUTY—a line of clean, sustainable products dedicated to healthy, beautiful hair. Fairchild Hair Artistry is proud to be the exclusive Atlanta partner for KANYON BEAUTY.
Michael works in the salon on select days, offering clients the opportunity to experience his signature precision and editorial flair firsthand. He entrusts all of his color work to Steven Priola-Fairchild. Together, this powerhouse duo delivers a truly elevated, custom-crafted salon experience.
